All Hallows’ Eve Rosary Walk set for Saturday
STEUBENVILLE -- Mount Calvary Cemetery, 94 Mount Calvary Lane, Steubenville, will hold an All Hallows’ Eve Rosary Walk beginning at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Michael W. Gossett, pastor of Blessed Sacrament and Our Lady of Lourdes parishes in Wintersville, will lead the rosary walk.
“The name ‘Halloween’ comes from All Hallows’ Eve, the vigil of All Saints’ Day. The word ‘hallow’ means ‘holy’ or ‘saint,’ and All Hallows’ Eve traditionally prepares Christians for the Nov. 1 celebration of all the saints who have gone before us in faith,” explained Lou DiGregory, superintendent of Mount Calvary Cemetery.
“We wanted to offer families a way to rediscover what this day is about and reclaim the Christian meaning of Halloween. What better place to gather in prayer than a Catholic cemetery, surrounded by those who have gone before us in faith,” he added.
Families are encouraged to participate, and children are invited to come dressed as their favorite saint.
