The Summit Art Gallery opened its newest exhibit Tuesday, with the Top of West Virginia Arts Council welcoming guests to a reception celebrating the artistic abilities of Dr. Eli Dragisich.
In addition to a lengthy career as an optometrist, Dragisich is known for 30 years of creating snow sculptures depicting various characters from popular culture.
His artistic talent, however, started at a young age with various sketches, something he said came in handy in some of his college anatomy and biology courses.
A few years ago, at age 79, he decided to give painting a try. His first piece was an acrylic portrait of his son's husky.
He has since painted numerous other pieces, ranging from family members and pets to wildlife.
Dragisich's art will be on display through Sept. 28.
The Summit Art Gallery is located within the Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau at 243 Three Springs Drive, Suite 17. It is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
