Brooke County Fair provides a variety of entertainment

WELLSBURG -- Whether you want to check out some animals or other agricultural attractions, sample a variety of fair cuisine, ride some rides or check out some professional wrestling, the Brooke County Fair has something for just about everyone.
The annual fair kicked off Friday at Brooke Hills Park and will continue through Sunday. The cost of entry is $10 per person per day.
Friday's highlights included the kids pedal tractor pull, with area youth, ages 4 to 10, attempting to pull a weighted wagon across a marked course.
A crowd gathered to watch matches organized by Black Diamond Wrestling, with others visiting the variety of vendors or trying out some rides provided by Thomas Family Amusements.
Full schedules of activities are featured throughout the weekend, including:
Saturday: Queen of Queens at 10 a.m.; a baked goods contest and auction beginning at noon in the Agriculture Tent; the Kids' Farmers' Market at noon; the Brooke County Intermediate Schools Tug-of-War at noon; Middle School Mud Volleyball at 1 p.m.; Brooke Primary Schools Tug-of-War at 2 p.m.; the Kids Power Wheels Demo Derby at 2:30 p.m.; the Demo Derby at 3 p.m.; the Domino's Pizza Eating Contest at 3 p.m.; High School Mud Volleyball at 4 p.m.; along with a variety of live entertainment and other attractions, such as Little Roaming Railroad train rides; an appearance by the Washington Wild Things mascot; a chainsaw art carving demonstration and more.
Sunday's planned activities include "Ask the Farmers" from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; the Livestock Auction at 1 p.m.; KOI dirt racing at 2 p.m.; the 4-H Pet Show at 2 p.m.; a corn hole tournament at 3:30 p.m., with preregistration required; a corn shucking contest at 4 p.m.; and other contests.

The Brooke County Fair is open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
