Port authority sets special meeting
STEUBENVILLE -- The Jefferson County Port Authority will hold a special meeting of the board of directors at 4 p.m. today in the community room on the second floor of the Jefferson County Tower Building.
The meeting will be to consider entering into a consulting agreement with a third-party real estate advisory firm to assist the port authority in connection with plans to develop, acquire or lease real property.
Cross Creek trustees to meet
WINTERSVILLE -- Because of the Labor Day holiday, the Cross Creek Township Trustees have moved their meeting to 7 p.m. Sept. 14.
The meeting will be held in the board room, 1267 Cadiz Road.
East Springfield dinner Sept. 10
EAST SPRINGFIELD -- The East Springfield Community Center will host its monthly fundraiser dinner on Sept. 10 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The menu will be meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, a vegetable, bread, dessert and a drink for $12.

The center is located on county Road 39 net to the East Springfield Fire Department.
Yard sale in Bethany
BETHANY -- A town-wide yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 12
Breakfast and lunch will be available at Bethany Memorial Church.
Indian Creek Announces CACFP Sponsorship
WINTERSVILLE -- Indian Creek Local School District has announced its sponsorship of the U.S. Department of Agriculture-funded Child and Adult Care Food Program at four district locations.
The participating sites are Cross Creek Elementary, 587 Bantam Ridge Road, Wintersville; Hills Elementary, 2281 Wilson Ave., Mingo Junction; Indian Creek High School, 200 Park Drive, Wintersville; and Indian Creek Middle School, 2379 Wilson Ave., Mingo Junction.
The program is administered in accordance with federal civil rights laws and USDA regulations. USDA programs are prohibited from discriminating based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, age, marital status, family or parental status, income derived from a public assistance program, political beliefs or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity.
Individuals with disabilities who require alternative means of communication for program information may contact the state or local agency administering the program or USDA through the Telecommunications Relay Service at 711. Program information may also be available in languages other than English.

Steel Valley RTA to Close for Labor Day
STEUBENVILLE -- Steel Valley Regional Transit Authority will not operate bus service and its offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of Labor Day.
Regular bus service and office hours will resume Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Library Board to Meet Sept. 8
STEUBENVILLE -- The Board of Trustees of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County will meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, at the Main Library, 407 S. Fourth St., downtown Steubenville.
Residents wishing to speak during the public comment period must visit or call the Main Library at 740-282-9782 to sign up by noon Monday, Sept. 7.
SR 151 to Close for Culvert Work
HARRISON COUNTY -- State Route 151 will close Sept. 8-11 for a culvert replacement project 1.5 miles west of Scio, just west of State Route 332.
The detour will follow State Route 212 west to State Route 164 north, State Route 164 north to State Route 332 south and State Route 332 south back to State Route 151. The reverse route will be used for the opposite direction.
The project is scheduled for completion Sept. 11.

Libraries to Close for Labor Day
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library and Follansbee Branch will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of Labor Day.
Both locations will resume regular hours Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Steubenville sanitation schedule changes for Labor Day
STEUBENVILLE -- The City of Steubenville Sanitation Department will be closed Monday in observance of Labor Day.
No garbage collection will occur Monday. During the week of Sept. 7-11, garbage collection will occur one day later than usual.
Cross Creek sets special meeting
WINTERSVILLE -- Cross Creek Township Trustees will hold a special neeting at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Township Board Room, 1267 Cadiz Road.
On the agenda are the Skyview Drive project, a gas and oil contract signing and to increase 2026 appropriations.
SHS Class of 1959 meets
STEUBENVILLE -- The Steubenville High School Class of 1959 held its monthly luncheon Aug. 12 with 12 in attendance.
Greg and Deb Froehlich, whose restaurant efficiently served us for more than six years, were welcomed as guests. Norina Eroshevich gave the blessing. Prayers were asked for Pete Barren and Rosemary (Martin) Ross.
Sympathy was extended to the family of BobbieLee (Maddox) Wickersham. The birthday cake provided by Terry Seese and wishes were extended to Pete Barren and Patty and George Milosevich, as well as everyone with an August birthday.
The next meeting will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sept. 9 at Scaffidis. Call Norina Eroshevich at (740) 219-2234 for reservations. Pete Barren died on Aug. 15, and members should feel free to send or bring any memories to meeting.
PERI will meet
STEUBENVILLE -- The PERI-Jefferson County chapter will meet at 11 a.m. Sept. 9 at Scaffidi’s Restaurant, 350 S. Hollywood Blvd.
The speaker will be Jefferson County Commissioners Eric Timmons.
Special Water Board meeting Wednesday
WEIRTON - The Weirton Area Water Board will meet in special session at 3 p.m., Wednesday in Room 201 of the Weirton Municipal Building.
The meeting had originally been scheduled for noon on the same day.
