The community turned out Thursday for the Brooke County Area Chamber of Commerce's inaugural Battle of the Bowls Chili Cookoff, held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Wellsburg. Attendees had to an opportunity to sample from 16 chili entries. From those, Uncle Davee's White Chicken Chili received the Judge's Choice Award and the golden ladle, with the entry from the Lee Day Report Center receiving the People's Choice Award. The award for the Battle of the Badge went to the Brooke County Sheriff's Department.
