WEIRTON – The Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the selection of Dr. Stephanie LeMasters as its next president, effective Sept. 1.
LeMasters will succeed retiring President Brenda Mull, who has led the organization for 29 years and has played an integral role in shaping the Chamber and the Weirton-area business community.
A lifelong Weirton resident, LeMasters brings a combination of business leadership, communications and marketing experience, and longstanding community involvement to the position. She currently serves as Member Services Coordinator for the Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce and has worked closely with Mull, Chamber members, and community partners in that role. Prior to joining the staff, she was a longtime volunteer with the Chamber’s Education Committee and worked alongside Mull during her years of volunteer service.
LeMasters is a graduate of Brooke High School and has earned a B.A. in Public Relations from Marshall University, and an M.S. in Communications and Information Systems and a Ph.D. in Information Systems and Communications from Robert Morris University. She also teaches communications and information systems courses at Robert Morris University and South College.
Professionally, LeMasters has spent much of her career in communications, marketing and management. She served for 14 years as the marketing director of Fort Steuben Mall, with four of those years also in the role of general manager. In recent years, she has continued her work in higher education while also providing business communications consulting to organizations and businesses.
In addition to volunteering with the Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce, her community involvement has included past service with the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, Steubenville Salvation Army, and The Rotary Club of Steubenville, and she currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Sexual Assault Help Center and is Chairwoman of the Education Committee of First Choice America Federal Credit Union.
As president, LeMasters plans to build upon the Chamber’s longstanding foundation while focusing on strong support for local businesses, membership growth, and modernizing Chamber programs to meet the changing needs of the local business community. She also hopes to strengthen connections among Chamber members and continue positioning the organization as a resource, advocate, and partner for businesses throughout the region.
"Brenda has devoted nearly three decades to this Chamber and to the businesses and people who make our community what it is, and I have tremendous respect for the legacy she has built," LeMasters said. "I have been fortunate to work alongside her both as a volunteer and as a member of the Chamber staff, and I know firsthand the commitment she has given to this organization. It is an incredible honor to be entrusted with carrying that work forward. I am excited about where we can take the Chamber next...supporting our small businesses, growing and engaging our membership, creating programs that reflect the needs of today’s business community, and finding new ways to bring people together. Weirton is my home, and having the opportunity to serve this community in this role means a great deal to me."
LeMasters will officially assume the role of President of the Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce on Sept. 1.
