Brooke student receives scholarship celebrating 45 years of OVAC Band support

WHEELING -- Celebrating 45 years of McDonald’s support for the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference All-Star Marching Band, local McDonald’s Owner/Operator Bob Stoltz presented a $1,000 scholarship to Deedra Groves of Brooke High School during halftime of the OVAC All-Star Football Game on July 18 at Wheeling Island Stadium.

Each year, the OVAC All-Star Marching Band performs during halftime of the annual OVAC All-Star Football Game. The band is made up of outstanding student musicians from schools across the OVAC, representing communities throughout southeastern Ohio and northern West Virginia.

As part of McDonald’s longstanding support of the program, local owner/operators host an annual Digital Fundraiser Day to help support students selected for the prestigious band. This year’s fundraiser generated $7,000 through participating restaurants owned by Amanda Stoltz-Moore, Bob Stoltz, John Ebert, Twila Mezan and Stephen Patula.

Their dedication, discipline and passion deserve to be recognized. We appreciate everyone throughout the Ohio Valley who supported our Digital Fundraiser Day and helped make this year’s fundraiser another success.”
