Members of the inaugural Weirton Youth Council were recognized for their service during a graduation reception held in the Weirton Room of the Millsop Community Center Monday night. The City of Weirton initiated the Youth Council in September as a pilot program, open to youth in seventh through ninth grades and living in the city, with a stated goal of both providing advice to the city from a younger generation’s perspective while also learning about municipal operations and the community as a whole. Among the tasks undertaken by the class was assisting in the organization of a rededication ceremony for the Margaret Manson Weir Memorial Park, and volunteering at the Weirton Salvation Army.
