Traubert, Newton, Paris set for Brooke school board seats
WELLSBURG — The current president of the Brooke County Board of Education will not return for another term.
According to unofficial results Tuesday, incumbents Kristin Newton and Stacy Paris will be joined by newcomer Michael Traubert when the board begins its next fiscal year in July.
Newton, from the Follansbee District, received the highest number of votes with 1,399, or 26.28%, followed by Traubert from the Wellsburg District with 1,315. Paris, of the Weirton District, received 792 votes.
Current board member Ted Pauls received 1,033 votes; however, because Traubert and incumbent Edward Marks also represent the Wellsburg District in the county, he will not return to his seat.
The fifth candidate on the board’s ballot, Pete Bolock of the Weirton District, received 784 votes.
In addition to Marks, board member Antoinette Perkins of the Follansbee District also will remain on the board for two more years before their seat appears on the ballot.
