Candidates prepare for general election after going uncontested Tuesday

NEW CUMBERLAND — There were several uncontested races that appeared on ballots in Brooke and Hancock counties in Tuesday’s primary election.

In the race for their party’s nomination in House of Delegates in District 1, incumbent Republican Pat McGeehan and Democrat Quincy Wilson each were unopposed. That means they will face off in the Nov. 3 general election.

In House of Delegates in District 3, incumbent Republican Jimmy Willis and Democrat Mike Robinson each were unopposed, which means they will advance to face each other in November.

Looking to fill unexpired Brooke County magistrate terms were Sarah E. DeLong in District 1 and Michelle Heaton in District 2. Both were unopposed in Tuesday’s primary.

Matt Harvey was unopposed in the race for the unexpired Hancock County magistrate seat in Division 2.

In Hancock County Circuit Court, Republican Sheena Connors was unopposed in the primary for the unexpired term. No Democrat filed for the seat.
