Products seized from area businesses as part of ongoing investigation
WEIRTON – Reportedly illegal and unregistered products were seized from several area businesses recently, following a two-day joint operation by local law enforcement which included compliance checks, underage and undercover purchases of hemp products.
As a result of alleged violations discovered during the operation, search warrants were executed on March 24 at the following businesses:
Weirton Tobacco and Vape, 3613 Main St., Weirton
Vaporize Smoke Shop, 241 Three Springs Drive, Weirton
Novelty Plus, 1432 Pennsylvania Ave., Weirton
GhotraBrothers, 3700 Pennsylvania Ave., Weirton
Bogeys Parlor and Hotspot, 3709 Pennsylvania Ave., Weirton
Star Smoke Shop, 264 Three Springs Drive, Weirton
The operations were conducted through a cooperative effort by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, the Weirton Police Department, the Hancock-Brooke-Weirton Drug Task Force, the West Virginia Tax Division, and the West Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Administration.
According to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, the searches resulted in the seizure of “illegal and unregistered products,” as well as U.S. currency.
Charges are pending as a result of the ongoing investigation against all of the locations.
