Lollathin convicted of beating, strangling ex in 2025

STEUBENVILLE — A Dillonvale man has been convicted by a Jefferson County Common Pleas Court jury of brutally beating and choking his then-girlfriend a year ago.

Jurors deliberated just about 90 minutes before finding Robert Lollathin, 39, guilty of strangulation and two counts of felonious assault. He faces 17.5 years behind bars at his sentencing, which is set for April 29.

Prosecuting Attorney Jane Hanlin said she was ecstatic with the jury’s verdict, describing the beating the victim had endured as “savage.”

“We are pleased that the jury fully understood the brutality of the defendant’s attack on this woman and voted to hold him accountable,” Hanlin said. “He fractured her wrist, broke three bones around her eye, burned her with a cigarette and savagely beat nearly every part of her body.”

The victim “sobbed” as each verdict was read, she said.

“I had the opportunity to speak with her after the trial and she is so grateful to Lt. (Kohl) Liddick of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and to the jurors for bringing her justice,” Hanlin added. “It has been my honor to hold her abuser accountable.”

Hanlin said the state “will be seeking a lengthy prison sentence.”
