Hands-on gardening symposium set

SCIO — An upcoming educational symposium hosted by the Harrison and Jefferson County Master Gardener Volunteers invites community members to step Into the Woods for a morning of discovery, creativity, and practical gardening knowledge.

The Into the Woods garden symposium will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 25 at the Scio Branch Library, Downstairs Meeting Room, located at 331 W. Main St. Doors open at 8:30 a.m., with presentations beginning promptly at 9 a.m.

This immersive program will guide participants through a woodland-inspired landscape of learning, with sessions focused on foraging, fairy gardens, log-grown mushrooms, mushroom cultivation and shade and moss gardening. Attendees will receive take-home leaf castings, enjoy door prizes and participate in a vibrant, hands-on educational experience led by Master Gardener Volunteers.

The cost to attend is $30 per person, which includes lunch, along with complimentary refreshments and morning snacks. The Into the Woods symposium is hosted by Ohio State University Extension’s Master Gardener Volunteer program serving Harrison and Jefferson counties, which provides research-based horticulture education and community outreach through trained volunteers.
