ICHS to present ‘Mamma Mia’
Get ready for a toe-tapping good time as Indian Creek High School brings the Broadway smash hit “Mamma Mia!” to the stage.
The jukebox musical, which is based on the 1970s and 80s hits of the Swedish band, ABBA, with books, music, and lyrics by members Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, will be presented on April 30-May 3 in the auditorium with song-filled pre-shows precluding the performances to set the mood. The curtains will rise on April 30-May 2 with the pre-shows at 6 p.m. and the play at 7 p.m., as well as on May 3 with the pre-show starting at 5 p.m. and the production to follow at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $7 for students and will be sold at the door.
Performing Arts instructor Robert Zinsmeister said the pre-shows will give students a chance to shine as they sing and dance to other popular songs from the era. Senior Ava Christian will direct the play as her capstone project and audiences will enjoy the disco tunes and chaotic plot that ensue.
