STEUBENVILLE — Local firefighters were called to a blaze on the second floor of a house at 3346 Sunset Blvd., just two doors down from the city’s West End fire station, Thursday afternoon.
Assistant City Fire Chief Chris Takach said it took about three hours to extinguish the flames because of the large volume of material stored inside.
Takach said a cause hadn’t been determined.
He said electricity for the brick structure was on, but the house isn’t believed to be currently inhabited and no one was inside at the time of the fire.
Firefighters climbed ladders and extended hoses through its upper windows to douse the flames.
A ladder truck was prepared in case the fire emerged through the roof but wasn’t needed, said Takach.
