WEIRTON — Weirton Restaurant Week is set to kick off Sunday, inviting the community to dine local and celebrate the region’s culinary scene.

More than 20 restaurants in Weirton, New Cumberland, Chester, Steubenville and Burgettstown are offering special promotions throughout the week, which focuses on the importance of dining local and supporting area businesses.

In addition to enjoying various deals and specials, diners will have the opportunity to win gift cards ranging from $5 to $25. T. Kosciusko Hall has donated a grand prize again this year: Catering for an event of 20 people, free of charge.

To enter the prize drawings, dine at participating restaurants during the week and turn in your receipts, with your name and phone number written on the back, to either the Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau or the Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce by March 8. Winners will be drawn on March 9.

Area restaurants participating in this year’s Weirton Restaurant Week, and their specials, include:

• Basil’s Sports Bar, 27 Marshaling Yard Drive, Weirton, featuring their newest menu item, the Turkey Bacon Cheddar, plus, $4 pints from 5 p.m. to 7 pm daily for happy hour and “Get Over the Hump” Wednesdays with $4 well drinks from 5 p.m. to 7 pm.

• Belmontes Italian 243 Three Springs Drive, Suite 15, Weirton. Wednesday: Fish sandwich for $12.99; Friday: Fish sandwich for $12.99 or fish dinner for $18.99.

• Bistro 303 Prime Cuisine 303 Three Springs Drive, Weirton. Happy Hour Specials, Tuesday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Selection of $10 appetizers, $8 classic cocktails, $9 wine by the glass, $4 16oz draft, $3 bottled beers and $2 off liquors.
