City Council declared February Black History Month in Steubenville. This year’s theme is A Century of Black History Commemorations and, in recognition of the 100th anniversary of Black History Month as well as America’s 250th year of independence, council said residents “should draw lessons, inspiration and guidance from our past to look forward to the future, as all history had contributed to the fabric of these United States.” Accepting the resolution was Steubenville resident Marc Gregory. — Linda Harris
