Jefferson County looking for a facilities manager
STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson County commissioners are looking for their next facilities manager.
Commissioners agreed to advertise for a replacement for Patrick Boyles, who plans to step down in the spring.
Boyles had wanted to retire last year but agreed to stay on to see a few large projects through to completion and to train his replacement. Commissioners had hired an individual in July to take over for him but he moved on, and Boyles moved his retirement date to October and then December.
He said at this point he plans to finish up in March.
The commissioner’s annual reorganization meeting is set for 9 a.m. Monday, with Jake Kleineke slated to take his turn as president of the board of commissioners.
Commissioners also:
• Received the county’s ODOT mileage certification for 2025 — 257.948 miles. It was unchanged from 2024, they said.
• Reappointed Gary Hallock of Steubenville as trustee for the Jefferson County District Library District board.
• Signed a letter of support for a Jefferson County Drug Task Force grant application.
• Approved routine legislation authorizing the county engineer to proceed with road, bridge and culvert repairs in 2026. Commissioners reserved their right to “make all purchases of materials and equipment” that would be needed, which is also routine.
• Signed off on a 25 percent load reduction on country roads “susceptible to damage during times of thawing or excessive moisture.” The reduction will be in effect from Feb. 1 through April 30.
