Business Bootcamp marketing session set for Thursday
WEIRTON — Those looking for ideas on how to better promote their business have a chance to expand their horizons.
The next session of the Business Bootcamp educational series, organized by the Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with First Microloan of West Virginia, the city and the Business Development Corp. of the Northern Panhandle, is scheduled for Thursday, beginning at 8 a.m. in the Weirton Room of the Millsop Community Center.
There is a $10 fee to attend, which covers the cost of food, and registration is required by calling the Chamber at (304) 748-7212.
This month’s topic is “Building Your Brand: Strategize Your Marketing and Social Media Presence,” and will be presented by Rachel Keeney, executive director of the Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau.
In addition to her role during the last four years with the CVB, where she works to promote tourism, the arts and business development in Hancock and Brooke counties, Keeney has a vast background in communications and marketing, including the rebranding of the Mellon College of Science at Carnegie Mellon University, where she worked as publications manager.
She also co-founded Juxtaproof Studio, a boutique design business specializing in branding and marketing strategies.
Future seminars in the Business Bootcamp series include:
• Feb. 19: “Show Me the Money: Alternative Financing Options,” presented by Tim James of First Microloan of West Virginia.
• March 19: “It’s Tax Time: Understanding Your Financial Statement,” also presented by James.
• April 16: “Growing Your Business: Workforce Development,” presented by Erin Kittle of the Northern Panhandle Workforce Development and Jennifer Rohrig of West Virginia Economic Development.
• May 21: “Handbooks, Employee Files and More: HR Compliance,” presented by Amy Grant of WVU Medicine Weirton Medical Center.
