Weirton Council to take up pay ordinance
WEIRTON — Weirton Council will convene in a special session at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the council chambers of the Weirton Municipal Building to take up a proposed ordinance amending the pay scales for non-union municipal employees.
The ordinance had been brought up during this week’s regular meeting but was voted down 4-3.
Sunday valve installation on Skyview Drive
WEIRTON — The Weirton Area Water Board will be installing a water valve on Skyview Drive on Sunday.
Crews will begin their work at 7 a.m., with water service to be interrupted in all areas of the Weircrest neighborhood, extending to the Kings Creek Bowl area. Customers are asked to refrain from doing laundry and a boil notice for Skyview Drive residents will be issued once service is restored.
Inspection scheduled for Wellsburg Bridge
WELLSBURG — The Wellsburg Bridge will have alternating lane closures from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, to allow for a bridge inspection.
Motorists are advised to expect delays. Unforeseen circumstances, including weather, could change the project schedule.
Paving planned in Newell
NEWELL — A portion of Sixth Street, from Newell Road to Washington Road, will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Oct. 31 for paving.
Traffic will be maintained by flaggers, and motorists are advised to expect delays.
Carbon capture sessions set
WEIRTON — Meetings will be held next week to discuss concerns surrounding carbon capture and sequestration.
Sponsored by the FreshWater Accountability Project, the informational sessions will include discussion about plans for CCS facilities in the Tri-State Area and potential concerns that come with the proposed new industry, organizers explained.
Meetings will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Ohio County Public Library in Wheeling and from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Mary H. Weir Public Library in Weirton.
