Evan Conn, the son of Dezarae and E.J. Conn and an eighth-grader at Indian Creek Middle School, performed musical selections during a 9/11 Day of Remembrance Service Thursday at Historic Fort Steuben. The evening included remarks by Steubenville Mayor Jerry Barilla and City Manager Jim Mavromatis, presentations by the Rev. Mike Bongart and Pastor Tony Foglio and a performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” by Pamela Bauman. It was presented by the Sycamore Youth Center. Bobbyjon Bauman, the center’s executive director, said the center will be holding a Day of Service for the youth of the community from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday. — Ross Gallabrese
