STEUBENVILLE — Aim Women’s Center will receive a $25,000 grant from the Charles M. Pugliese and Thelma M. Pugliese Charitable Foundation to support upgrades and renovations to the Mother of Mercy Maternity Home.

The home provides safe, stable housing for women facing unexpected pregnancies, offering a supportive environment where they can prepare for motherhood with dignity and hope, officials with Aim explained. The foundation’s gift will directly fund renovations, ensuring that the space is not only functional, but also beautiful, warm and secure for the mothers and children who will soon call it home, they added.

“We are deeply grateful to the Pugliese foundation for their extraordinary generosity,” said Rebekah Cohen Morris, executive director of Aim. “This grant has allowed us to open the Mother of Mercy Home, a place where new moms are welcomed and given the support they need during and after pregnancy.”

The renovations made possible by the gift are part of Aim Women’s Center’s broader vision to provide wraparound services — housing, counseling, doula support, material assistance and mentorship — so that every mother can flourish during and after her pregnancy, she added.

“The Pugliese Foundation has always been committed to strengthening families in the Ohio Valley,” said Tom Timmons, foundation president. “By supporting the Mother of Mercy Home, we want women in difficult circumstances to have the security and care they need to welcome new life and begin their journey of motherhood.”
