County road work detailed

STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson County Highway Department’s work schedule for the week beginning Monday includes:

• Chip and seal: Wells Township

• Spot paving: County Road 54 (State Park-Mooretown Road)

• Pavement milling: County Road 43 (Ross Ridge-Alikanna Road)

• Bridge replacement: County Roads 11 (Piney Fork Road) and Knox Township Road 289

• Contract tree trimming: County Road 53 (Bergholz-New Somerset Road)

JVS board to meet

BLOOMINGDALE — The board of education of the Jefferson County Joint Vocational School will hold its regular meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The meeting will be held in the boardroom of the Jefferson County JVS, 1509 county Road 22A.

Personnel committee to meet

STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson-Belmont Regional Solid Waste Authority Personnel Committee will meet at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Jefferson JBGT building, 228 Technology Way, Steubenville, to discuss personnel matters.

Volunteers sought for summer event

FOLLANSBEE — City officials are seeking volunteers to help create a future summer event in the city.

Those interested should submit to the City Building a short letter stating related skills or experience — such as fundraising, business relations, event planning and public safety — and why they want to participate.

The deadline for the letters is Aug. 29.

Benefit golf scramble event set

FOLLANSBEE — A golf scramble to benefit improvements to the Follansbee Community House will be held Oct. 4 at Highland Springs Golf Course.

The cost is $300 for a team of four and includes carts, a golfer gift bag, lunch, beverages and dinner.
