JVS plans student orientation on Tuesday
BLOOMINGDALE — The Jefferson County Joint Vocational School is giving students an early introduction to their classes during orientation this Tuesday.
The building will be open to seniors from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and juniors from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Supervisor/Principal Heather Hoover said doors will open for the latter event at 4 p.m. but students and parents may tour the site and familiarize themselves with rooms, teachers and staff before the first day of school.
“Students will have the opportunity to pick up the class schedules, locker information and student-assigned Chromebooks, meet our staff, visit classrooms and other student spaces,” Hoover said. “Staff members will be available to assist students with completing their final forms and address any questions about graduation requirements, College Credit Plus coursework, student special services, work-based learning and student organizations.”
Student enrollment stands at 435 pupils and officials hoped each student would attend their respective orientations. It also marks the start of new leadership with Hoover and Superintendent Ted Gorman and attendants will have a chance to meet them that evening.
“The superintendent and I are excited to begin these new roles and to welcome our students and families alongside the staff at the JVS, at the open house. This is a special opportunity for us to start building strong, positive relationships, and to build upon an environment where everyone feels valued and supported, while working together to make this an amazing year of learning. We look forward to meeting each of those in attendance, while the staff are excited to reconnect with their students,” Hoover commented.
The first day for juniors will be Wednesday while seniors will start on Thursday.
