Julien McKenzie, 7, of Wellsburg was among several children who tried pulling a weighted wagon with a toy tractor and received encouragement from Britney Hervey Farris of Family Roots Farm and her daughter, Mylah, at the Brooke County Farrmers Market Wednesday. This week’s market had a special fair theme that also included a display of farm animals and cotton candy. Next Wednesday’s farmers market — to be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 535 Charles St., Wellsburg will be the last for the season — so its organizers can prepare events as part of the new agriculture department of the Brooke County Fair, which will be held Sept. 12-14 at Brooke Hills Park. — Warren Scott
