Mingo council sets special meeting
MINGO JUNCTION — Village Council has scheduled a special meeting for 5:30 p.m. Friday to consider a resolution to renew the village’s EMS levy.
The levy resolution must be submitted to the Jefferson County Board of Elections by 4 p.m. Wednesday, village officials explained.
Fire hydrants to be flushed
TORONTO — City crews will be flushing fire hydrants next week.
It will be done on the following schedule: Main Street south to Loretta Avenue and north to Freeman Street on Monday, Loretta south to Trenton Street and Freeman north to Myers Street on Tuesday, Trenton south to Federal Street and Myers north to Stewart on Wednesday, Federal south to Dennis Way and Stewart north to Spring Street on Thursday, and Dennis Way south to Fernwood Drive on Aug. 8.
Water customers may experience low water pressure and discoloration in their water and should refrain from washing clothes on those days.
Model railroads sought for display
WINTERSVILLE — Organizers of Wednesdays in Wintersville are inviting owners of model railroads to display them in Wintersville Methodist Church’s Center of Hope during the next festival, which will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The railroads will be returned to their owners after the event, which will include a Mr. and Miss Cowgirl pageant with all youth under 18 years of age invited to compete.

The Ohio River Northern Railway Club will have model railroads on display.
There also will be a baking contest, for entries featuring sourdough. Those interested in participating should call (740) 424-9679.
All attendees are invited to bring canned goods for donation to local food pantries. The food may be left in little red wagons found at various places during the fair, which is held along Main Street.
