Items sought for flood relief efforts
The Brooke County Emergency Management Agency and Follansbee Fire Department are collecting cleaning supplies, personal hygiene products and bottled water for flood victims in Ohio County.
Such items may be dropped off at the following locations: the new Brooke County ambulance station on Pleasant Avenue in Wellsburg and the Follansbee Fire Department on Main Street, Follansbee, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Wednesday; from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Brooke County Farmers Market at the corner of Sixth and Main streets in Wellsburg; and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Brooke Hills Park’s Rhododendron Shelter.
• Boy Scout Troop 1553 is involved with the collection at Brooke Hills Park. Needed personal hygiene items include diapers and wipes for babies. Needed cleaning supplies include large garbage bags, bleach, buckets, gloves, mops, brooms and scrub brushes,
• The owners of Follansbee and Wheeling area McDonald’s also have announced up to $250 from orders placed at each chain through the McDonald’s app today will go to the local chapter of the American Red Cross to support those affected by the flooding.
