Edison High School announces Class of 2025
RICHMOND — Edison High School’s commencement for its Class of 2025 was held May 30 at the school.
The class’s top students are Co-valedictorians Zachary Keith Kuntz and Madison Aubrey Somerville, Salutatorian Sydney Michelle Frampton, Coleman Thomas Granatir, Myah Jade Howell, Avah Elizabeth Reed, Laurel Doris Jane Kemp, Ali Marie Shrieve, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Phillips and Avery Ann Cash.
The daughter of Matt and Chrissy Somerville of Richmond Somerville performed and competed as Eddie the Edison Wildcats Mascot and was awarded the Makenzie Smith Memorial Scholarship.
She was a four-year member of student council and the National Beta Club and member of the Leadership Council, Dungeons and Dragons Club and Media Club; and was on the Academic Competition Team for two years and mock trial team.
An office aide and member of the Drama Club and choir, Somervile performed in school plays and musicals much of her four years and was crowned homecoming queen.
She played PowderPuff for two years and attended Richmond Methodist Church.
An Honors Diploma recipient, Somerville earned four academic letters and an associate’s degree from Belmont College.
She plans to major in communications at Richmond University.
The son of Brian and Kasey Kuntz, Kuntz was on the football team for four years and wrestling and track teams for two years each and was a member of the Drama Club, appearing in plays much of his four years.
An office aide, he was a four-year member of the Beta Club and member of the Leadership Council, mock trial team and Spanish, Calculus and Physics clubs.
Kuntz was named to Buckeye Boys State, served as student ambassador for Eastern Gateway Community College and student school board representative; and earned four academic letters.
An Honors Diploma recipient, he earned an associate’s degree from Belmont College and was awarded the Govenor’s Merit Scholarship.
Kuntz plans to major in biochemistry and biological anthropology at Wright State University,
The daughter of Kip and Michelle Frampton of Hammondsville, Frampton was a four-year student of the school’s performing arts programs, performing in the concert and marching bands, choir and school musicals for four years and the jazz and pep bands for three years.
She represented the school in solo and ensemble competitions all four years and as a violinist, placed second twice in the Valley’s Got Talent contest.
An Honors Diploma recipient, Frampton was on the swim team and a district qualifier in the 400-meter relay event, a four-year member of the Beta Club and member of the FFA.
She was awarded the Governor’s Merit Scholarship, the Arion Award for outstanding achievement, leadership and dedication; the John Phillips Sousa Award and Edison Band Scholarship; and earned four academic letters.
A member of St. Andrew’s Orthodox Church, she plans to further her education at Kent State University.
The son of Rachel Granatir and Rich Granatir, Granatir was a four-year member of the National Beta Club, a Close-Up delegate and office aide.
An Honors Diploma recipient, he earned four academic letters and was awarded the Governor’s Merit Scholarship and Ohio University Excellence and Forward scholarships.
Granatir plans to major in mechanical engineering at OSU.
The daughter of Staci Ana and Jeremy Howell, Howell was a four-year student in the performing arts program, she was a four-year member of the marching, concert, jazz and pep bands and Drama Club.
She represented the school in solo and ensemble competitions for the band and choir, appeared in a school musical and was on the volleyball team for three years and the track team for two years.
Named Academic All-Ohio for her efforts, Howell was in the National Beta Club, Leadership Council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, mock trial team and winter semiformal court.
An Honors Diploma recipient, she earned an associate’s degree from Belmont College.
She plans to major in nursing at West Virginia University.
The daughter of William and Janice Board of Irondale, Reed was in the marching, concert and pet bands and Beta Club all four years, the choir and Drama Club and appeared in school musicals.
She was on the soccer team two years, receiving many OVAC and Eastern District honors,
the softball team for two years and the mock trial team.
An Honors Diploma recipient, she earned four academic letters.
She plans to major in radiology technology at Belmont College.
The daughter of Grand and Cynthia Kemp of Richmond, Kemp was in the school’s FFA chapter all four years, the jazz and concert bands three years, the National Beta Club, leadership council, student council and Spanish Club.
An office aide, she was on the academic competition team and track and cross country teams, all for two years, and was awarded four academic letters, an Honors Diploma and Governor’s Merit Scholarship.
Kemp also was in Powderpuff Football, the Country Classics 4-H Club, Tri-State Writers Society, Steubenville Saddle Club, U.S. Equestrian Federation, Richmond Historical Society, Carroll County Historical Society and Holy Family Catholic Church’s teen ministry.
She plans to major in a pre-medical science program at Franciscan University of Steubenville.
The daughter of Bill and Sophie Shrieve of Bloomingdale, Shrieve was on the softball and volleyball teams, garnering All-Ohio, All OVAC and All Eastern District honors in softball and being named Academic All-Ohio for both sports.
She was in the marching and concert bands all four years and pep band for three years; a four-year member of the National Beta Club, serving as treasurer one year; student council, leadership council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, FFA and the homecoming court.
Shrieve was awarded four academic letters and an Honors Diploma.
She will attend Salem International University, where she plans to major in biology, with a focus on human nutrition and performance, and play softball.
The daughter of Christina Gilday and Robert Phillips, Phillips was in the National Beta Club and Trio Upward Bound program, both for four years; academic competition team and Spanish Club, both for three years; cheering squad, leadership council and prom committee.
She was awarded four academic letters and Honors Diploma and earned an associate’s degree from Belmont College.
Phillips plans to major in finance at Cleveland State University.
The daughter of Junior and Alison Cash of Hopedale, Cash served in the Beta Club and leadership council, performed in the choir and was awarded four academic letters.
