Steubenville Catholic Central High School announces graduates
STEUBENVILLE — Commencement for Steubenville Catholic Central High School was held Sunday at Franciscan University of Steubenville.
The Class of 2025’s top students are: Valedictorian Andrew Rohde, salutatorian Emily Walker, Natalie Cherepko, Jenna Clum, Miguel Jauregui, Jack Leonard, Josephine Loot, Elizabeth Schmiesing, Jonathan Sollom and Maeve Symington.
The son of Jeffrey Rohde and Bridget Rohde, Rohde is president of the school’s Youth Coalition, Jefferson County Youth Coalition and senior class, youth representative on the United Partnership Board and an Eagle Scout in Boy Scout Troop 401.
He was a four-year varsity letterer in cross country, four-year letterer in soccer and track, three-year letterer in basketball and one-year letterer in golf.
Rohde was awarded the ACT Recognition Award, Anita Jackson Scholarship, Carleen Yannon-Scurti Memorial CCHS Scholarship, CGSC Alumni Scholarship, Cynthia Rose Phillipson Memorial Scholarship, Dr. Jim Mills Memorial Scholarship, Frank Colalella Charitable Foundation Scholarship, Governor’s Merit Scholarship, Interstate Waste Scholarship, J.C. Williams Scholarship, John Nese Memorial CCHS Scholarship, Josh Merriman Memorial Scholarship, NHS Scholarship (National Semifinalist), OHS Arthur M. and Berdena King Eagle Scout Award, Press/Macedonia Award, Steubenville Rotary Service Above Self Scholarship and the Undo’s Italian Heritage Scholarship.
He has been awarded an athletic scholarship from Ohio State University, where he will major in biochemistry and participate in cross country and track while pursuing a pre-medicine program of studies.
The daughter of John and Cathy Walker of Steubenville, Walker was president of the National Honor Society, secretary of student council, a Lisieux House Leader, Kairos Leader and member of Key Club, Pep Club, the Youth Coalition, International Thespian Society and campus ministry.
She was a three-year academic letterer, three-year varsity letterer in tennis, two-year varsity letterer in volleyball and one-year varsity letterer in basketball.
Walker has been awarded the Interstate Waste Scholarship and CCHS Athletic Boosters Scholarship.
She will major in accountancy at the University of Notre Dame.
The daughter of Bobby and Kimberly Cherepko of Bloomingdale, Cherepko was president of the Key Club, treasurer of the National Honor Society and student council, vice president of the Youth Coalition and a member of the Pep Club.
She was a three-year academic letterer, three-year varsity letterer in volleyball and basketball and four-year varsity letterer in track.
Cherepko was awarded the Josh Merriman Memorial Scholarship, Steubenville Kiwanis Scholarship and Michael J. Barber Sr. Memorial Award.
She plans to major in dental hygiene at Ohio State University.
The daughter of James and Michelle Clum of Steubenville, Clum was a member of the soccer and track teams and received varsity letters and participated in the adoration band and the Sycamore Summer Art program.
She received the Tomko Family Health Care Award.
Clum plans to major in biochemistry and minor in art at Villanova University.
The son of Juan Manuel Jauregui and Fabiana Paschetto, Jauregui earned four varsity letters in tennis and three each in wrestling and the marching band.
He was awarded the Cynthia Rose Phillipson Memorial Scholarship and ACT Recognition Award.
Jauregui plans to major in mechanical engineering at Ohio State University.
The son of Matthew and Veronica Leonard of Steubenville, Leonard was named to the National Honor Society and received multiple academic and varsity sports letters, participating in soccer and tennis all four years.
He was in the International Thespian Society, participated in many theatrical productions and was leader of the adoration band.
Leonard was awarded the Governor’s Merit Scholarship,St. Genesius Society Scholarship, Chancellor’s Scholarship and John and Blanche Mussio Scholarship.
He plans to study psychology and philosophy at Franciscan University of Steubenville.
The daughter of Emily and Brian Loot of Steubenville, Loot completed the school’s honor curriculum, was vice president of the National Honor Society and earned two academic letters and three varsity letters in soccer.
She was awarded the Lions Club Scholarship and plans to major in communications and marketing at Franciscan University of Steubenville.
The daughter of David and Justine Schmiesing, Schmiesing was the Del Rio House leader and received three letters each in marching band and track and field and one in swimming.
She received the G.K. Chesteron Award, St. Genesius Society Award and ACT Recognition Award.
she plans to major in English literature and minor in theater at Franciscan University of Steubenville.
The son of Scott and Mary Sollom of Steubenville, Sollom was Frassatti House leader and earned varsity letters in golf and basketball.
He was awarded the Lion Club Scholarship and Chancellor’s Scholarship.
Sollom plans to major in English and minor in philosophy at Franciscan University of Steubenville.
The daughter of Paul and Eliza Symington of Bloomingdale, Symington was named to the National Honor Society, was president of the International Thespian Society and pianist for the music ministry team.
She was a three-year letterer in track and soccer, serving as team captain for the latter; and four-year letterer in the marching band.
She was awarded the John and Blanche Mussio Scholarship and Ball and Cross Award.
Symington plans to major in biology and minor in voice at Franciscan University of Steubenville.
