Edison returns to paid meal program
HAMMONDSVILLE — Edison Local Schools has announced a return to a paid meal status for the 2025-2026 school year.
The school district tested participation in the federal Community Eligibility Provision program, offering free meals to all students; however, found the model wasn’t financially sustainable for the district.
“We know how much our families have appreciated the free meals this past school year, especially during uncertain times,” said Superintendent Bill Beattie. “This was not an easy decision, but it’s one we must make to ensure the long-term stability of our food service program. Our commitment to the well-being of our students remains unchanged.”
Edison Local Schools encourages families who may qualify for free or reduced-price meals to complete the necessary application which will be available this summer.
For assistance, families may contact district Food Service Director Christine Chipps at (740) 282-0065, Ext. 1104, or Beattie at (740) 282-0065, Ext. 1100.
