Still no heat at Heritage Place Apartments
STEUBENVILLE — Some residents at Heritage Place Apartments have now been without a working boiler for at least three months, their attorney reports.
Pam Bolton of Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio said tenants are still waiting for heat to be restored. In the meantime, affected residents have had to rely on space heaters distributed by building management.
Bolton said she got confirmation the complex’s owners, Green National and WG-Heritage Place OH, have paid for the part but no one will say when it will be installed.
Meanwhile, she said two complaints filed by affected tenants continue to work their way through Jefferson County Common Pleas Court.
“The attorneys will go through discovery, which could take several months,” she said, adding a final hearing is likely months away.
Bolton obtained a preliminary injunction in January ordering the owners and their then-management company, ABC Management, to move affected tenants into furnished apartments or, alternatively, lodge them in nearby hotels, if the heat wasn’t immediately restored but neither happened.
A second complaint was filed by a resident whose townhouse-style apartment was flooded after her water lines froze.
