STEUBENVILLE -- A Brilliant resident will have a new vehicle thanks to a drawing held to raise funds for new equipment at Trinity Medical Center West.

Trevor Clark's was the name pulled from more than 500 entries in the drawing held Monday outside the hospital's new entrance, and he has the option of driving home in the 2024 Ford Mustang GT donated by TEAM Automotive or receiving $50,000 of credit toward another vehicle of his choice from the Steubenville dealership.

Up to 1,000 chances, for $100 each, were available through the fundraiser held by Trinity Health Systems Foundation.

Jerry Simspon, chairman of the foundation's board, noted it's part of an ongoing campaign to raise $3 million for equipment for the hospital, including the new emergency department that is part of of its recent $75 million expansion.

Catherine Poludniak, the foundation's manager, said, "Our patients are our first priority, and we can't serve them well without topnotch equipment."

Citing an example of the cost of equipment used by the hospital's staff, she noted a linear accelerator used to treat a broad range of cancer patients costs more than $1 million, not including about $800,000 to install it.

She said the foundation's fourth-annual Spring Golf Classic, held April 8, raised $14,000 and other fundraisers will be held in the future.

Poludniak expressed thanks to the community for its support of such events and to TEAM Automotive for its partnership.

Mark Teramana, general manager for TEAM Automotive, said the dealership is aware of the many local residents served by the hospital and is happy to support it.

He confirmed TEAM has partnered with Trinity in the past, including donating another Mustang for a drawing benefiting the Teramana Cancer Center's Teramana Emergency Assistance Relief Fund, and serving as hole-in-one sponsor for the golf classic.

Monday's drawing was conducted before local media and during a live remote broadcast by WCDK-FM.
