In the wake of recent flooding in the area, residents of Steubenville, Weirton, Follansbee, and Wellsburg have rallied together to extend a helping hand to those affected.
Spearheaded by the Wellsburg Kiwanis Club, this collaborative effort aims to collect essential items and support the individuals and families impacted by the disaster.
"We are deeply moved by the outpouring of support from our neighboring communities during this challenging time," said Eric Fithyan, president of the Wellsburg Kiwanis Club. "In times of crisis, it's heartening to see people come together, setting aside differences to offer assistance and solace to those in need."
The collaborative relief effort will focus on collecting various items essential for the well-being and recovery of the flood victims. Items such as non-perishable food, bottled water, clothing, hygiene products, blankets, and baby supplies are being sought to provide immediate relief to those affected by the disaster.
"We are urging all residents of Steubenville, Weirton, Follansbee, and Wellsburg to join hands and contribute whatever they can to support our neighbors in need," added Tiffany Gale, a member of the organizing committee. "Every donation, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference in the lives of those grappling with the aftermath of the floods."
One collection point in each city has been established: Def Louie's Sandwich Shop, 2198 Sunset Blvd, Steubenville; Howard Hanna Mortimer Realty, 3028 Pennsylvania Ave, Weirton; James Funeral Home, 1245 Main St., Follansbee; and First National Bank, 1015 Commerce St., Wellsburg. Items will be collected through April 19 and will be distributed through the Hancock and Brooke Family Support Centers.
