STEUBENVILLE -- Police continue to investigate a Friday night shooting in Steubenville's Labelle neighborhood that left one man dead and another hospitalized.
Chief Ken Anderson declined Sunday to identify the victims or discuss a motive for the shootings, which happened shortly after 9 p.m. in the 1300 block of Maryland Avenue.
"One was pronounced dead at the scene, the other was transported to Trinity West by Steubenville fire/EMS and later transported to a Pittsburgh hospital for further treatment," he said.
Anderson said the wounded individual's condition is unknown. Assisting at the scene were Jefferson County sheriff deputies and the prosecutor's office.
"The incident remains under investigation," Anderson said. "Anyone with information should call the police department at (740) 283-6090."
A city resident, meanwhile, is facing charges after police report he "came across" the yellow crime scene tape while it was still an active crime scene.
Police allege they told Amir Richmond, 25, 279 Cunningham Lane, to get on the other side of the tape, "however he refused and began threatening officers," then "ripped the tape and went back over" into the crime scene and also punched a bystander, according to a report.
The bystander was unwilling to pursue charges, but police charged Richmond with disorderly conduct and obstructing official business.
