Man arrested following K-9 pursuit
WELLSBURG -- A local man has been charged with fleeing on food, resisting arrest and violation of a bond condition following a pursuit on Nov. 30 that ended in an altercation between him and the police dog of the Brooke County Sheriff's Department.
Thirty-eight-year-old Levi Thomas, who has no fixed address, allegedly struck Duke, a police dog handled by Brooke County Sheriff's Deputy Shane Siranovic, while attempting to free himself from the canine's clutches.
Brooke County Sheriff Rich Beatty released a statement saying deputies were dispatched to a home on Glass Lane after receiving a report of a suspected burglary.
Beatty said Thomas fled from the officers into a wooded area nearby and was apprehended about three-fourths of a mile into the woods.
He said other charges may be filed against Thomas, whose case is pending in Brooke County Magistrate Court.
Colliers Way traffic restrictions
WEIRTON -- A portion of Colliers Way will be restricted to one lane through Dec. 15 for a culvert replacement.
Traffic will be maintained by flaggers, and motorists are advised to expect delays. The project schedule may be adjusted because of inclement weather or other circumstances.
Solid waste board to meet
ST. CLAIRSVILLE -- The Jefferson-Belmont Regional Solid Waste Authority Board will hold its regular monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Belmont JBGT building, 67895 Pickering Road, St. Clairsville. The personnel and finance committees will hold a joint meeting at 4 p.m. to discuss salaries and contracts.
General board meetings are open to the public.
Airport board to meet
WINTERSVILLE -- The Board of Trustees of the Jefferson County Regional Airport Authority will meet in regular session at 3 p.m. Monday in the public conference room of the terminal building at the Jefferson County Airpark, 600 Airpark Drive.
Recovery board to meet
STEUBENVILLE -- A board meeting of the Jefferson County Prevention and Recovery Board will be held at 6 p.m. Monday at the St. Florian Event Center in Wintersville.

Library board to meet
STEUBENVILLE -- The board of trustees of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County will meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Main Library, 407 S. Fourth St.
Officials issued a reminder about the public comment policy:
• The library's public comment session is 30 minutes per meeting.
• Each person has three minutes to address the board.
• A person cannot address the library board for two consecutive months. For example, if a person speaks at the December board meeting that person cannot address the board members in January. The person may address the board in February.
• If a person would like to make a comment at the board meeting, the person must contact the Main Library by noon one day prior to the board's scheduled meeting.
• The public comment period will be taken after library board members discuss the regular order of business.
Public comments or questions are not taken during the board's regular order of business.
Volunteers sought for task
WEIRTON -- The Brooke Hancock Family Resource Network needs volunteers to assist in unloading food delivered by the Mountaineer Food Bank to the Weirton Salvation Army on Cove Road at noon Tuesday and at the network's own office at 1300 Potomac Ave. that day.
