City school board to meet
STEUBENVILLE -- The Steubenville Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
The meeting will be held at the board offices, located at 611 N. Fourth St.
Businesses warned on solicitations
CHARLESTON -- West Virginia Secretary of State Mac Warner is warning business owners of third-party solicitations for their annual reports that appear to be government forms but are not.
Warner said the letters weren't government approved or reviewed in any manner and recipients shoudl red carefully their fine print.
"Third-party providers have been reported to charge businesses more than 500 percent of the statutory $25 fee and often advertise the wrong deadlines for state compliance," he said.
He added business owners can use free reporting tools provided by the Secretary of State's Office at Businesss4.WV.gov.
Warner said 99 percent of the state's businesses file their annual reports online, adding the 2024 filing period will run from Jan. 1 to June 30.
The Secretary of State's Office also waives the cost of registration and first four years of reporting fees for incorporators under age 30 who are eligible for the Young Entrepeneur and veterans, active-duty service members and military spouses eligible for the Veteran Owned Business Waiver.
