Election board plans test
STEUBENVILLE -- The Jefferson County Board of Elections will test its equipment and procedures for Tuesday's election on Friday.
The public test will begin at 9 a.m. in the board's offices, located at 500 Market St.
The board of election also will meet in the board office at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday for the purposes of addressing any questions or issues that could arise during election day voting.
Library board makes changes
STEUBENVILLE -- The board of trustees of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County will meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Main Library on 407 South Fourth St.
Members of the board passed a motion at the Oct. 10 meeting regarding the public comment period during its regular monthly meetings. The motion was made to be effective on Dec. 1, and includes:
• The library's public comment session is 30 minutes per meeting.
• Each person has three minutes to address the library board.
• A person cannot address the library board in two consecutive months. For example, if a person speaks at the December board meeting, that person cannot address the board members again in January. The person may address the board in February.
• If a person would like to make a comment at the board meeting, the person must contact the Main Library by noon one day prior to the board's scheduled meeting.
• The public comment period will be taken after library board members discuss their regular order of business.
Veterans commission to meet
STEUBENVILLE -- The monthly regular meeting of the Veterans Service Commission of Jefferson County will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The meeting will be held in Suite 310 of the Tower, 500 Market St.
Data processing board to meet
STEUBENVILLE -- The Jefferson County Data Processing Board will meet at 1 p.m. Nov. 9 in the auditor's office on the fourth floor of the courthouse.
Paramount Pursuits sets workshop
STEUBENVILLE -- Paramount Pursuits, the city's entrepreneur development partner, is hosting Launch in Steubenville, a workshop aimed at demystifying the process of opening your own business.
The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 11 at their office, located at 423 North St.
Class topics include: What is entrepreneurship and why choose to be an entrepreneur? What does it take to be an entrepreneur? Knowledge and resources to start your entrepreneurial journey and How to be a successful entrepreneur.
The program is free through the support of the city, Urban Mission Ministries and the Youngstown Business Incubator.

Veterans to be celebrated
STEUBENVILLE -- The Harding Middle School Leo's Club is rolling out the red carpet in celebration of the brave military personnel who risked their lives for our freedom.
The student organization will host its seventh-annual Veteran's Brunch at 9 a.m. Nov. 10 in the school gymnasium and more than 90 veterans will interact with the pupils. Adviser Danielle Kalinowski said music and presentations will be held to mark the occasion, but students will have an opportunity to learn past soldiers and sailors' stories.
The club will lead the event, which will include performances by the Harding Middle School Jazz Choir, band teacher Nathaniel Hicks and a military medley by pianist Valere Stewart along with a Veteran's Day tribute and a memorabilia table. Among the guests will be 102-year-old U.S. Army veteran John Panza of Follansbee and Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Rock of Toronto, whose son U.S. Marine Sgt. Nathaniel Rock was killed in Iraq in 2005.
Wells trustees to meet
BRILLIANT -- The Wells Township Trustees will be holding their meeting of the month at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Wells Township Office, 409 Prospect St.
