STEUBENVILLE -- Work will resume this week on Phase 2 of the State Route 7 traffic signal improvement project.
Signals along State Route 7 from Wells Street to Franklin Avenue are being upgraded and a new traffic management system, complete with new, fiber-optic interconnects, installed.
Phase 2, which involves installing new signal poles and mast arms at intersections in the work zone, is set to begin Tuesday and should be completed by April 28, City Engineer Mike Dolak reports.
Lane closures are anticipated, so drivers should be alert and prepared for changing traffic patters and slower speeds through construction area.
The contract was awarded to Perram Electric Inc. of Wadsworth, for a total contract cost of nearly $2.4 million. The project is funded with federal highway funds allocated through the Brooke-Hancock- Jefferson Metropolitan Planning Commission, 0.7 percent City Income Tax revenue and Ohio Public Works Commission Funds.
The project is scheduled to be completed in its entirety by Oct. 6.
