Pastor Toni Hubbard looked over some New Testament scripture she shared with about 15 area residents who came to Urban Mission's Unity Kitchen for the annual foot-washing service observed on Maundy Thursday. The two-hour event included a meal, Easter goody bags for children, socks and toiletry items for adults, communion, prayer and an explanation of the significance of Maundy Thursday. "I explained to them the importance of the reason for the foot-washing," Hubbard said of what imitates the example of Jesus at the Last Supper with his disciples before his crucifixion. "I read from scripture, telling them that this was the Passover that Jesus was preparing himself to go to the cross for our sins." Hubbard said today, Good Friday, at noon at Unity Kitchen, Mission Rejoice, a time of worship and a meal, will be held as it is every Friday. — Janice Kiaski
