Cross Creek meeting time changed
WINTERSVILLE -- The time of Cross Creek Township's regular board meeting on Monday has changed.
It will be held at 4 p.m. instead of 6 p.m. with the change because of work schedules.
The meeting will be held at the board office
at 1267 Cadiz Road, Wintersville.
Man held on drug charges
STEUBENVILLE--A Martins Ferry man taken into custody in Steubenville this week for outstanding warrants is now facing drug charges, Jefferson County Drug Task Force Capt. John Lemal said.
Clint Lekanudos, 27, was taken into custody at a city hotel on two outstanding warrants by U.S. Marshals.
Lemal said the task force, while assisting marshals, found probable cause and secured a warrant to search Lekanudos's hotel room. He said they seized suspected fentanyl and cocaine from the room, and upon further investigation did a consent search at an Oak Grove residence where they seized U.S. currency.
Lekanudos is facing two counts of possessing drugs, Lemal said.
The drug task force is comprised of members of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department, Steubenville Police and the Jefferson County Prosecutor's office, he said.
City resurfacing work to start
STEUBENVILLE -- The city will begin the 2023 Community Development Block Grant street resurfacing improvement program starting at 7 a.m. Monday and continuing daily throughout the week, weather permitting.
This work will involve the removal of the existing asphalt surface using a cold milling process and placing a hot mix asphalt intermediate leveling course on Pittsburgh Street from Ridge Avenue to Arlington Avenue.
The street will be posted "No Parking" at least one day in advance. If vehicles are left on the street, vehicles will be towed, and owners will be responsible for towing and storage fees.
The city has contracted with NLS Paving Inc. of St. Clairsville to do the work, which and is funded using Community Development Block Grant provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and revenue from the city's 0.7 percent income tax.

Airport board to meet
WINTERSVILLE -- The board of trustees of the Jefferson County Regional Airport Authority will meet in regular session at 3 p.m. May 15 in the public conference room in the terminal building at the Jefferson County Airpark, 600 Airpark Drive, Wintersville.
