PITTSBURGH -- Wigle Whiskey will be celebrating its 11th birthday in a special way.
The small-batch, craft distillery in the Strip District will be releasing its longest-aged spirits to date -- Single Barrell Straight Bourbon and Single Barrel Straight Rye Whiskey -- during Thursday's Bourbon vs. Rye Birthday Bash.
Set to run from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the distillery at 2104 Smallman St., the event will help celebrate the milestone release of the bourbon and rye, which have each been aged for eight years.
"The team here is so proud and excited to be able to offer our fanatical customers an 8-year-old rye whiskey and an 8-year-old bourbon -- the finest aged products that Wigle has ever produced," said Alex Moser, Wigle's chief operating officer. "We are incredibly grateful to all of our supporters and looking forward to celebrating with them."
Ticket-holders will have the first opportunity to try and to buy the landmark spirits, the first of their kind from the distillery.
Guests will have an opportunity to enjoy the festivities and will receive:
— A bourbon cocktail and a rye cocktail. Guests will be invited to vote for their favorite and decide the winner of the bash.
— A guided whiskey flight. Guests will have the chance to spend some one-on-one time with one of Wigle's distillers while they taste through the 8-year-old bourbon and rye vs. the flagship straight bourbon and rye.
— A mini tour of the production facilities.
— Two appetizers prepared by the Wigle culinary team exclusively for the party and a slice of classic birthday cake paired with a sample of Wigle limoncello to toast the distillery's 11th birthday.
Tickets for the event are $75 each and can be purchased at: https://wiglewhiskey.com/events/8-year-bourbon-vs-rye-birthday-party/
Wigle has been the most awarded craft distillery by the American Craft Spirits Association for the past decade.
