Justin Barbetta, left, the latest addition to the Wintersville Police Department, received his oaths of office from Mayor Mike Petrella on July 23. A native of Mingo Junction, Barbetta recently completed police academy training through Eastern Gateway Community College and is pursuing an associate's degree in criminal justice. He served recently as chief humane agent for the Jefferson County Humane Society and is interested in bringing a new K-9 unit to the Wintersville police force. Police Chief Lou Vandeborne noted that with Barbetta's hiring, all vacancies in his department have been filled, and acknowledged Petrella and Wintersville Council members for their support in making that possible. — Contributed
