TORONTO -- A juvenile is in police custody following a shooting that resulted in the death of 19-year-old Skyler Miller of Steubenville on Sunday morning.
City Police Chief Charley Daniels didn't release the youth's name, saying charges against him are pending review of the case by the Jefferson County Prosecutor's Office.
Daniels said Miller was transported by ambulance to Trinity Medical Center West, where he was pronounced dead, after sustaining a shot to the head from a revolver.
He confirmed Matthew Lumpkin, 18, of 517 West Fernwood Drive, has been charged with tampering with evidence for allegedly removing the weapon from the scene prior to the police's arrival.
Daniels said the shooting appears to have occurred during a party at Lumpkin's home and alcohol was likely a factor.
He said police were dispatched to the scene after receiving a 911 call from a person with whom Lumpkin had spoken on the phone.
Daniels said several people at the party have been interviewed in the course of the investigation, which is ongoing.
