WINTERSVILLE -- Cross Creek Township has a new police chief, with the administration of oaths Tuesday to Casey Robinson.

A 2001 graduate of Eastern Gateway Community College’s criminal justice program, Robinson came to the Cross Creek Township Police Department in 2016, serving first as a part-time officer and since 2018, on a full-time basis.

He noted the passage of a levy made it possible for the township to employ himself and others on a full-time basis, and he appreciates the community’s support for its law enforcement agency.

The administration of oaths to Robinson was delayed when the elevator he and others were in became stuck.

But he said the glitch was a short hiccup in an otherwise pleasant occasion.

A native of Bethesda, Ohio, he was previously employed by the Martins Ferry and Smithfield police departments and since October, as chief of police for Mount Pleasant.

Robinson also worked for several years as chief humane agent and director of operations for the Jefferson County Humane Society.

The owner of three dogs and four cats, he lives in Weirton with his spouse and three children.

A member of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 97, Robinson said he’s worked with the Wintersville Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and other local emergency departments.

He said under his predecessor, John Stasiulewicz, the Cross Creek Township Police Department gained three new police cruisers and other key equipment and as the new police chief, he will work with his officers to maintain the same quality service.

Robinson said he became interested in law enforcement at an early age.

“It’s something I’ve wanted to do ever since I was a kid. It’s always been my thing,” he said.
