STEUBENVILLE -- Water system work in the city will disrupt traffic in a couple of different areas this week.
On Wednesday, crews will be replacing a 6-inch main line valve on Preston Road. Preston will be closed to all traffic from Lovers Lane to Pembroke Road from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., or until the work is completed, officials with the water department explained. Motorists who use Preston are asked to find alternative routes.
Beginning Thursday, crews will begin preparatory excavations at the intersection of North Fourth and Dock streets. Work is expected to continue Friday and end on Monday, after four main line valves are replaced. Motorists can expect lane restrictions and traffic pattern changes at the intersection Thursday and Friday, with the intersection being closed to all traffic on Monday.
Both projects are part of the city’s Phases II Water Line and Valve Replacement Project.
Customers in both areas can expect water quality issues from this work, including discolored water, loss of water pressure and loss of water. If residents experience any of these conditions or have questions, they can call the Filtration Plant at (740) 283-6041.
