The smokestacks of the former Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. mill in Yorkville were demolished Wednesday in a controlled implosion of the last of the plant, which was more than 50 years old but has not been operable for a number of years. The owners of the site, Yorkville Intermodal, conducted the demolition and may make use of the cleared ground.
