Mother sentenced in assault case
STEUBENVILLE — A Wintersville mother who admitted throwing her months-old baby down a flight of steps will serve at least seven years and no more than 10.5 years behind bars, Jefferson County Common Pleas Judge Michelle Miller ordered.
Sloane M. Kinsey, 601 Two Ridge Road, Wintersville, pleaded guilty Friday to felonious assault and two counts of child endangerment.
Kinsey, 26, had been using suboxone, which she was prescribed, and drinking the day of the incident, which left the five-month-old with a broken arm, a broken leg, broken ribs and a brain bleed, officials said. Cocaine also was found in the baby’s system. The incident occurred in November 2020.
Kinsey must serve a minimum of seven years in prison before she will be eligible for parole.
