Springfield trustees to meet
BERGHOLZ -- The Springfield Township trustees will meet at 7 p.m. Monday.
The meeting will be held at 722 Monroe St.
Drug raid results in new charges
STEUBENVILLE -- The Jefferson County Drug Task Force raided the home of a woman already in custody on drug charges Tuesday, seizing a large quantity of what is believed to be methamphetamine.
Task Force Capt. John Lemal said they removed about 56 grams of suspected methamphetamine along with drug paraphernalia, including packaging material, from the home of Khloe L. Dibiase, 128 Shirley Circle.
Dibiase, 27, was already being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $100,000 bond after being taken into custody by Steubenville police Feb. 7 on three felony counts of drug possession.
Lemal said the warrant was executed "after an extensive investigation into alleged drug trafficking." He said that investigation is ongoing.
Dibiase's bond on the new, F2 possession charge was set at $250,000.
Two face escape charges
STEUBENVILLE -- Authorities have filed escape charges against two people who walked away from the hospital Tuesday after being treated for alleged drug overdoses.
Shawn M. Anderson, 37, 105 Wildwood Dr., Apt. 1, Follansbee, was initially charged with possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, and physical control, and served with a bench warrant, and his companion, Angela R. Klein, 32, 1228 McColloch St., Wheeling, with possession of drugs and possession of a drug abuse instrument.
Police said a third person in the vehicle told them he called for help "after seeing them use heroin and appearing to be unconscious" at a downtown service station. Police said the two were awake and talking by the time they arrived on scene but were transported to Trinity West by Mingo Junction firefighters.
Anderson allegedly had five bags of broken Xanax pills in his shoes, two more pieces in a container and a case with five hypodermic needles plus a spoon with a residue on it, police allege. Another needle was recovered from the floor in front of the passenger, they said.
Police said Anderson fled the hospital two hours later while under a police hold, leading them on a chase through the Glendwell and Crestline areas before he was recaptured on Opal Boulevard rear.
A warrant has been issued for Klein, who fled separately.
