Assault suspect indicted in Jefferson County
STEUBENVILLE — An Amsterdam man charged with assaulting a female a month ago was indicted by the Jefferson County grand jury Wednesday for felonious assault and domestic violence.
David Allen Hinerman, 118 Arch St., was one of nine people ordered by the grand jury to stand trial.
Hinerman, 45, allegedly punched a woman several times and dragged her by the hair through his home on Dec. 12, then when she tried to run to a neighbor’s home for help shoved her into a parked vehicle. The neighbor had told the responding officers he heard the commotion and came outside to find the woman laying on the ground behind the car with Hinerman hovering above her claiming she’d poked him with a syringe.
Deputies said at the time they didn’t find blood or needles inside the residence, though it did show signs of a struggle.
The alleged victim had a swollen black eye, several cuts and scrapes on her legs and several minor scrapes to her arm and “seemed very disoriented and had difficulty explaining the situation,” deputies had said in their report.
Hinerman’s felony indictment included an additional finding that he had a prior conviction for domestic violence.
A superseding felony indictment was returned against Donald C. Harris, 2720 Cleveland Ave., Steubenville, charged with willfully trying to elude police, two counts of drug possession and one count of tampering with evidence, all felonies.
Harris, 40, allegedly had in excess of 10 grams of fentanyl in his possession when he was taken into custody July 28 after leading police on a high speed chase through a residential area, running several stop signs before crashing his car. Police reported finding a plastic bag on the ground near the crash site with a powder believed to be a heroin compound, as well as several other bags in his vehicle including one allegedly containing a similar substance.
Information in a bill of particulars filed with the court alleges Harris knew he was under surveillance on a warrant out of Weirton for an alleged gun violation when he tried to escape police.
