WINTERSVILLE -- The proposed project to build an additional hangar building at the Jefferson County Airpark has a contractor.
During a special meeting Wednesday, the Jefferson County Regional Airport Authority Board of Directors voted to approve the bid submitted by FulFab Inc. of Canton to construct a new hangar at the airpark.
The full bid, which came in at $189,500 for the base building, all the proposed options the board considered and freight to the job site, was the low bid of two received during the Dec. 14 regular board meeting.
The second bid came in a considerable amount higher.
The board's building committee, which consists of board members Geary Bates and Richard Stenzel, reviewed the bids and recommend Full Fab's proposal to the board.
Stenzel said he and Bates had spoken to the company concerning questions they had about aspects of the bid and were satisfied with the answers.
The board will put 10 percent down on the project, at which time the board's architect will receive preliminary drawings for modification and submission to the state for building permits and foundation drawings.
Also at the Dec. 14 meeting, the board passed a resolution to recognize General Aviation Appreciation Month.
